i. i want linux on a flash drive, but there are problems with this: i.a. i only have a cheap (and bad!) drive i.b. i don't know how linux works i.c. i only have one drive, so i don't think i can do a full install i.d. even if i did have multiple drives, my laptop only has one usb-3.0 port, and the rest are usb-c. though i suppose usb-c flash drives are available. i.d.1. specifically, i've been looking at this one: kingston datatraveler. it has up to 1,000MB/s2 read speeds which is crazy. i'm not exactly sure how crazy but i'm pretty sure it's crazy. my flash drive has like 100MB/s2 or something. maybe less. ii. i need to remember a few things though: ii.a. i disabled fastboot --- this makes windows boot fast (supposedly up to twice as fast) ii.b. i also disabled safe boot, which should be renabled eventually. especially if i can dual boot linux and windows and it actually works when i have safe boot on ii.c. i definitely need to remember how scary partitioning stuff can be. i wiped the os off of that old mac my brother put ubuntu on, deffinitely don't want to do that on here ii.c.1. i should probably back up all my files on that microsd iii. linux is very exciting! i won't have to deal with microsoft randomly removing features for no reason and can actually use my laptop how i want to. but it will probably be hard to learn
